18-year old Sasha Christian was crowned South-east Asia's best female wakeboarder when she won the gold medal in the 2011 SEA Games held in Palembang, Indonesia yesterday.
Representing Singapore and competing against 5 other finalists, Sasha left rivals in her wake by performing a vast array of advanced tricks such as air raleys and heelside-toeside 360s. The judges scored her run with an impressive 60.45 points, some 20 points above the Silver medalist Kayla Kee, who also represented Singapore at the final.
Sasha said the win gave her one of her most precious medals to date and hopes to compete in the 2015 SEA Games.
In 2010, Sasha became Red Bull's only Singaporean athlete and has since been supported by the brand with a week long trip to its Diagnostic and Training Centre located in Fuschl am See, Austria. There, she had access to Red Bull's team of physiotherapists, psychologists and trainers who helped provide insights on how she could improve her sporting performance.
Red Bull will continue its support of Sasha in the coming year and are working on plans to develop the athlete further.
Well done Sasha!
