Just hours before the start of the two-day Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour 2010 classic in Madrid, extreme temperatures in the Spanish capital are taking their toll on man and machine.
With the mercury climbing to 45 degrees Celsius in the famous Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas bullfighting arena, the best FMX riders in the world and their mechanics are spending as much time as possible in the shade or chilling out in the pool as the clock ticks down to the event.
Of course, Mat Rebeaud, Robbie Maddison, Nate Adams and the rest of the Red Bull X-Fighters are no strangers to searing temperatures and dry winds – after all, the previous stop in Moscow was a battle of endurance as the heat kept rising.
But Red Square will be nothing compared to the conditions expected to face the best freestyle motocross athletes in the world in Madrid tonight and tomorrow.
The weatherman is predicting that the heat wave will continue into the weekend, meaning the Red Bull X-Fighters had better prepare for the hottest event ever in the Spanish capital.
The Red Bull X-Fighters will be broadcast live on Red Bull Web TV tomorrow.
