It was an unhappy weekend. I could not see on one metre before me, I rode very close to Deni [Cudic] and in one of the left corners there was a big lightning flash and I saw how Deni was falling down, because I rode behind Deni some lightning hit me too.
After a fall in Jerez, Thomas Vavrous's luck didn't improve in Estoril after this incident in free practice.

Yes of course it is bad luck because I couldn't do the qualis and also the races on Saturday and Sunday. But if you think a little bit wider then you know that it is also good luck because it could have been worse for me and so I´m happy that nothing more happened.
Deni wasn't able to race but he admits it could have been worse after he was struck by a lightning bolt!

'It was bad luck... but it could have been worse...'
In reference to the race in Portugal, I am very happy with the 7th position in the Saturday, and the podium on Sunday. The races were very good, because Saturday and Sunday's were hotly contested and I was in a very good fight.

This weekend in Estoril was not very positive for me as I was not able to ride in the two races. This was due to my crash in the second race in Jerez. As a result I needed pins to support my collarbone.
Javier Orellana did not compete in Portugal but will be raring to go for the next race at Silverstone in the UK in June.

'The races were hotly contested and I was in a very good fight'
Well qualifying in the thunder storm did not work out too well. I qualified last! It’s hard to get a feel for riding in the rain when you haven’t had much experience in it.
It worked out alright in the end for Joe Roberts, though, after he recovered to finish 11th in the first race and recorded an even more creditable fifth-placed finish in the second heat.

Luckily after my crash there was no problem with my bike and I continued till the end of race to get 7th position.
Joakim Niemi was feeling pretty good after the two races in Estoril having learnt alot during the race weekend.
