The big news this week is the announcement that Prince (pictured) will be making a handful of rare festival appearances across the summer. The artist with a penchant for purple is set to make three European appearances this summer. The singer is set to headline Denmark's Roskilde festival and France's Arras Main Square (July 2-4) before performing at the festivalpark in Werchter, Belgium, on July 10.

Latitude has added a whole raft of brand new acts to the bill which already has such treats as The Horrors, Belle & Sebastian and The xx on board. The additions include The Feeling, The Coral, Kristin Hersh, Black Mountain, The Big Pink, The Kissaway Trail, Tokyo Police Club, First Aid Kit, Jesca Hoop, Egyptian Hip Hop, Middle East, Joe Worricker, Delta Maid and The Liberty Vessels. Over in Japan, there's the breathtaking Fuji Rock Festival, set at the Naeba Ski Resort. Since 1999, the festival has had the reputation of being one of the cleanest festivals in the world, with an emphasis on recycling. Vampire Weekend kick off the annual season of Eden Sessions in Cornwall. The four-piece play the Eden Project on June 24, and are followed by other acts that are already set to play, including Jack Johnson (June 26), Mika (27), Doves and Mumford and Sons (July 2), Calvin Harris (3) and Paolo Nutini (13).
